Dear Joy,
I wanted to write a quick letter and thank you for the wonderful pleasure it has been in purchasing my new puppy from you. I had talked with several other Doberman breeders from Pennsylvania and New York and you really sold me on how much information you had about them and the background information you had about them. A lot of breeders just breed to “make money” on the dogs. Your dogs are not just simply your dogs, they are your family! I hope that everyone else who purchases from you has the same wonderful experience that I had.
The car ride home went exceptionally well. She only peed in the car once. We stopped at two rest stops on the way home and left her out and all she wanted to do was play. I was really afraid to take her out because we didn’t have a leash for her but the rest stops were really far away from the road and the “pet area” was even further. You weren’t kidding when you said she is a “velcro” dog. She was stuck to me at the rest stops and now that we are home she is even more stuck to me.
Jade took a little while warming up to Ally. She was more concerned with Ally getting more attention from me than she did. When we brought her in the house we left Jade come up to her and I knew she wouldn’t do anything to her but I was still a little skeptical. Jade went running over to Ally and Ally actually snapped at her, I was really surprised. It was nice to see that Ally wasn’t afraid of her as I was worried she would be. Ally tried to play with her and befriend her for about 2 hours and Jade just simply did not want anything to do with her. I was really starting to get worried now. Every time Ally came over to me, Jade would come running from across the room and just kinda herd her away. She just did NOT want Ally near me, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I decided to take them outside for a while to see if she would warm up to her out there. That worked a little bit better. Outside though, Jade realized that she was “just a little puppy” and would kind run into her. I was beginning to think this was going to be a hopeless cause because at this point I had tried everything.
I went into my office for a while and decided I would just try to kinda ignore both of them for a while. As much as I didn’t want to do this, I was desperate to try. Believe it or not, it worked. I was in my office for about 20 minutes and I came out and Ally and Jade were lying on the floor together, playing!!! I was soooo happy!!!!! To make a longer story a bit shorter, these two are inseparable now. They have taken over half my couch and refuse to give it up for anything. Usually they lay next to one another but a couple of time I have caught them snuggling together. It is just the cutest thing!! To top it all off, the other member of the family, our kitten Harley, jumps up and snuggles next to them as well. J
Just one day and Ally has learned how to sit! Amazing huh!!! She has also learned that when she goes outside and goes to the bathroom that she gets a treat. I think she has turned this into a game with us. She will go over to the door and whine for a while and we let her out and she plays for 10 minutes and just before she has to go in she will run and do her business. Its comical really! Overall, she has won the hearts of everyone in the neighborhood, especially ours!! Everything is going really well with her with potty training and learning her basic commands. I’m ecstatic that she is such a fast learner.
I have put a few pictures of her and Jade and just her at the bottom here so you can have some pictures of her. I would really like to stay in contact with you and keep you updated on her progress.
Thanks again for everything you have done for us. You have made our family a little bit bigger!
Very truly yours,
Randi and Trent Way
