When I met Tim in 1991, he had a Collie named Leo. I immediately fell in love with him and Tim!
Right before we got married, we bought Leo a companion, Maxwell, a tri color Collie. Shortly after, we moved to the country side in Cattaraugus County, New York. They were our faithful companions for 13 years.
When they went to Doggy Heaven, we decided we wanted a Doberman Pinscher. I didn’t want to deal with hair anymore! Our first Dobie was Sophie. She was so smart and beautiful, we wanted another. So along came Fergus.
Then came our first Red Dobie, Murphy. After getting up to 3, we decided we needed a bigger house and a fenced in yard! We found a 105 year old farm house that was being used as an alpaca farm. It had 4 fenced in acres and was exactly what we had prayed for! And since we were moving, and had lot’s of room – well then, along came Hazel.
While we were in the process of moving, I began to do research into breeding our Murphy and Hazel. I did a lot of studying before we decided to let them mate. I wanted to see what the work level and expense level was before we decided if we wanted to continue breeding.
That first litter was an absolutely wonderful experience for both me and Hazel. Murphy was an absentee dad! I enjoyed spoiling Hazel as she went through her pregnancy. And she proved to be a great mom. We had a smooth delivery and she immediately took to being a mother. Our vet check confirmed our desire to produce healthy puppies first and foremost. Our vet is a Doberman fan and has a male from our first litter. He was very encouraging, he said ”Joy, you are doing everything right, keep doing what your doing!”. That was enough for me. Lavelle Dobermans was born.
I continue to do research, to learn everything I can about breeding excellent companion dogs with show potential. Our dogs continue to be the loves of our lives.
Welcome to the world of Lavelle Dobermans! We hope that you enjoy our site. We look forward to hearing your comments!
